The Mothers Support Group - Bereaved Families of Ontario

Forget Me Nots and Innukshuk Forget Me Nots and Innukshuk

About 8 months after Matthew died, I was able to attend a Mothers Support Group with Bereaved Families of Ontario/Hamilton-Burlington Chapter. I travelled from Simcoe area to Burlington every week to meet with other moms whose child had died in recent months or years.

The first week I felt very nervous, having no idea what to expect but the facilitators were so compassionate and welcoming that this time became the most comforting oasis in the midst of a dark and difficult time.

The group ran for 12 weeks and we met weekly for 2 hours.

I can't say enough about how invaluable this group became to me, and being able to share with other moms the rollercoaster feelings and the pain that just didn't seem to let up at all. This group gave me what I needed most at that time - HOPE!

We still meet now and again for coffee or a meal.

Since then, I have completed the Facilitator Training and now co-facilitate with the BFO in the Hamilton area. I also attend and sometimes speak at their monthly  Healing with Hope events
